Manitoulin Ice Showdown 2024 cancelled due to weather. For Immediate Release February 6, 2024 Wikwemikong Tourism, Explore Manitoulin and the Wiikwemkoong Anglers have decided to cancel the 2024 edition of the Manitoulin Ice Showdown due to weather. MANITOULIN ISLAND—Manitoulin Ice Showdown event partners, Wikwemikong Tourism, Explore Manitoulin and the Wiikwemkoong Anglers, have been closely monitoring the weather and lake conditions and with the unseasonably mild winter, they have made the tough decision to cancel. “This the first time in the history of our event that we have had to cancel but in the interest of public safety we are forced to make this decision,” states Wikwemikong Tourism Manager Luke Wassegijig. As per the rules, there will be a full refund given to all paid participants except for those who have won an early bird cash prize. Wikwemikong Tourism will be mailing payment to all paid participants in the coming weeks and ask for your patience as they work through this process. Event organizers want to thank everyone who supported the event, especially the generous sponsors who have helped make this one of the best tournaments in the North.
